I’m not so sure the fantasy arena is best suited for the stop-motion tech any more but adult-themed movies are a prospect – see Anomalisa for example.

Really really nice animation work! Other than a few scenes the stop motion is nearly indistinguishable from other more pronounced techniques like cgi.
I enjoyed it very much.

Visually its an achievement but I thought it lacked an interesting story/plot.

I’m a big fan of what they’ve done to date, but I’d love to see Laika break away from the childrens’ stuff and get into the meatier fantasy adventure movies like those pioneered by Ray Harryhausen in the 50s and 60s.

The eye to detail is truly incredible. The animators have made stop-motion an art form and even if you are only the tiniest bit of a fan of animation you owe it to yourself to see what they’ve accomplished.
